In the field of linguistics, there is an area that focuses on something called cross-linguistic influence. Knowledge of one language can have some type of control to a lesser or greater degree over the acquisition of another language as well as the use of it. It is within this parameter that I look at the relationship of how having Japanese as a first language influences the learning and use of English.
